Spring Sunrise, a disappearing nine patch for twin girls is finished! I made 40 nine-patches out of my scraps, all with white centers. Then I cut them into 160 5.5″ squares and spilt them up – 80 per quilt, so the quilts each finish at 40″x50″. I think of them as two halves of the same quilt.
Spring Sunrise is an apt name, I think – not only are colors bright and springy, but the girls these are for were born this spring – literally the sunrise of their lives. These quilts are off to Copenhagen, Denmark, where I hope they will bring lots of sunshine to their new owners.
They are backed with IKEA Numbers. To give a visual difference in the quilt (for Mom to tell them apart easily) I ran the fabric in different directions. I also quilted in the direction of the backing, so horizontally on one, and vertically on the other. Lastly, they are each labeled with their names, using my printable fabric. They are both bound in a hot pink solid.
