This past weekend I made a quick trip home to Ann Arbor, MI to see family and celebrate Christmas. We usually get together early to hopefully avoid any bad weather. Unfortunately this year the best laid plans were dashed due to 8″ of snow on Saturday, so the celebration was pushed to Sunday morning before I had to dash to the airport.
It was good to go home for a few days – I do miss Ann Arbor so I had fun Friday driving around and looking at all my old haunts. As part of my adventure I had lunch with my grandfather and sister and then I headed over to check out Pink Castle Fabrics.
I have followed Pink Castle Fabrics for about a year, pretty much since I started quilting. It was really fun to see both the in-store and shipping business under the same roof. I also go to meet and hang out with Brenda who was super nice, really funny, and has a memory for fabric names and colors like none I’ve ever seen.
I didn’t take too many photos, but suffice it to say I went way overboard. Their 30% off their entire inventory sale was going on, and I took advantage. I also took advantage of some special in-store-only options. When they get to the bolt ends they cut FQ’s and F8’s and stick them in bins for $2 and $1 respectively. I dug through pretty much every bin and found a whole bunch of Botanics for a screaming deal.
They had also just gotten in the feathers prints from Alison Glass so I had Brenda cut a FQ bundle for me – something you don’t always have the option of when you shop online.
For Amy I was on a mission for the Metro Living line. These were a steal – $5.60 a yard.
I also picked up some Mini Confetti Dots from Dear Stella, a low volume Fat 16th bundle, some Tsuru, and a whole bunch more. It filled a box right to the brim. Hopefully it will be delivered today! I can’t wait!

Thanks Brenda and all of your lovely staff for making my visit so fun!
